Ode to Art and Deaun Leisy
It is Christmas eve 1987… and I am home again, in Idaho. Home! - If it is true what they say...And I believe it is – then home is not a place but a people. A special people. And You, Mom and Dad Leisy are such special people to me. So special are you that I’ve written you a poem… No, you have written this poem with your love, laughter and living. It is my special privilege to hold up the mirror of your life for all to see.
A poem written to Deaun and Art Leisy
for their 50th Wedding anniversary Celebration
And God said, “Let there be light!"
And there was light!
And God said, “Let there be love!"
And there was love!
Then God said, “I’ll add Joy and Laughter and Family and Faith and
Hope and…wait...why Hope?”
“Why did I create Hope?" God asked himself right out loud.
And then, just as quick He answered.
“My special people will need it so as to deal with the fears and tears and troubles and such.”
And then God pondered…
“To whom Shall I Give all these blessings?
And to whom shall I give my concerns?
I cannot give all life’s rainbows to those still unwilling to learn!
“I’ve got it!” God smiled as He said it, “I know just what I’ll do!
I’ll find a few special people
And daily their hearts I’ll make new!”
“I’ll offer a faith that won’t waiver –
And a cross that not many would bear.
But remember, my sweet special people…
My spirit will always be near!”
“I’ll sprinkle their lives with much laughter!
I’ll fill them with goodness and grace!
I’ll make sure that warmth is their portion!
I’ll put laugh lines and smiles on their face!”
Then…God put his hand to His next task…
Who to choose to play such a part?
“Of course!" said He without question…
"Special People…My Deaun & My Art!”
