To my Father...
When my mother, Deaun Olzen Leisy, passed at 92 years, I found, in her family photo album. the following poem written by an anonymous poet. As I read it, my eyes filled with tears and my heart suddenly missed again Deaun’s husband, my father…even today as I reminisce, I see his gentle face. My father lovingly and completely represented everything a father ought to be to his children. It was at the knee of my father, Arthur Eugene Leisy that I came to understand the depth of an earthly father’s love and commitment. But he gave more…there I also met through stories and scriptures, my Heavenly Father…that introduction has made all the difference. Today, I salute all Fathers who understand and bring meaning to their children as they role model this commandment: Honor thy Father… Exodus 20:12
A father is a friend…
Who will stay by your side.
A loyal companion,
A teacher and guide.
A warmhearted listener whenever you’re blue…and ever and always a guardian to you.
A father can strengthen, console and inspire!
He's someone to love, honor, and admire.
You were all of these things Daddy,
And even more, too.
And that’s why no father,
Is missed more than you!

When My Father passed away in his own bedroom, in the home I grew up in… I crawled in bed beside him and held him close. I knew he was gone…I knew he was now in the arms of his Father…yet it was so hard to let him go. Still today, some 16 years later, my eyes on occasion fill with soft tears and memories flood my soul. Someday…someday Daddy…I will hold you again.
