The Road Taken...A Parody

One road diverged from a gentle plain
Rolled on by a barren tree,
A tree whose fruit was never seen,
It’s life in vain, could it be?

Could I be like that fig of old
Whom the Master cursed to die
Could you be like that tree my friend?
Have we been fruitful, you and I?

One road continues and begins to climb,
  To gentle rolling hills.
A peaceful scene, a scene sublime,
   Perfection of silence—so still.

Alone I pause on this narrow trail,
   And ponder His sacrifice.
A trial, a crowd, a cross, a nail…
My heart has been made right.

My God you’ve paid the ultimate price
You gave us your son…He gave us His life.

One road continues, there is no end,
    With God we’ll forever be,
   Simply embrace Christ’s clear command,
“Take your cross and follow me.”
